George’s boyfriend Fadi Fawaz has been at the star’s bedside throughout his ordeal. He revealed that the singer, who had hits such as Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go with Wham! before going solo, has been given the all-clear to leave.

Writing on Twitter, Fadi, 38, said: “Christmas at home. I cannot stop smiling today, the best day ever. He is getting better and better. Nothing to worry about, happy days.”

George, 48, was rushed to the private hospital on November 20 after he fell ill at Vienna’s exclusive Imperial Hotel, where he was staying ahead of a concert. He was later diagnosed with severe pneumonia.

The star, who has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, was forced to cancel the 14 British gigs that would have made up the final leg of his Symphonica European tour.

As well as Fadi keeping a bedside vigil, George’s father Kyriacos Panayiotou, 75, and his sisters Melanie, 49, and Yioda, 53, also flew over to Austria to be with him.

George Michael is coming home for Christmas.

The "Faith" singer has been receiving treatment for pneumonia at the AKH clinic in Austria, but his previously life threatening condition is improving so much he is likely to be able to return to England in time for the big day on December 25, according to his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz.

Fawaz, 38, told the Daily Star newspaper: "Christmas at home. I cannot stop smiling today, the best day ever. He is getting better and better. Nothing to worry about, happy days."

Michael, 48, became seriously ill in November and had to cancel all remaining shows on his 'Symphonica Tour' when he was taken to hospital. Fadi has kept a bedside vigil and George's 75-year-old father Kyriacos Panayiotou and older sisters Melanie, 49, and Yioda, 53, also flew in to be with him.

A family friend said: "His whole family are with him. They are very close knit all of them. The family are around him. They are such a close family I can't tell you. They all love each other."

Professors Gottfried Locker and Christoph Zielinski, of the hospital announced in early December that George's condition was improving and he had been taken out of intensive care.

They said in a joint statement: "The latest development in Mr. Michael's case, which has evolved from a severe pneumococcal infection, necessitated intensive care due to its severity and extension.

"We are happy to announce that Mr Michael is improving. There are no other health issues with regards to the patient other than the underlying pneumonic disorder.

"Mr. Michael is receiving precisely the same treatment as any ordinary patient in Austria would receive at the hospital for this disease."

KATY PERRY TIES JANET JACKSON AND GEORGE MICHAEL FOR ANOTHER BILLBOARD RECORD

2011 has been a ridiculously successful year for Katy Perry. She celebrated her one-year anniversary with Russell Brand, her album ‘Teenage Dream’ is approaching two million copies sold, she earned multiple Grammy nominations, and she tied a Billboard record that Michael Jackson had owned for nearly a quarter of a century.

Wait, did we say she tied one Billboard record? Turns out she wasn’t quite finished yet. Her latest single, ‘The One That Got Away,’ became the sixth Top 5 hit from ‘Teenage Dream’ this week, adding Perry to the very short list of artists who have accomplished the feat.

‘The One That Got Away’ ties Perry with Janet Jackson and George Michael, the only other artists to score six Top 5 cuts from a single album. Making this feat even more impressive is just how long it’s been since someone managed to pull it off: George set the record in 1987-’88 with the singles from his ‘Faith’ album, while Janet followed in 1989-’90 with the long string of hits from ‘Rhythm Nation 1814.’

“This song shows a very different side of me that I haven’t shown with my past singles on this record,” Perry told MTV. “I think that everyone can relate to this song. I wrote this song about when you promise someone forever, but you end up not being able to follow through. It’s a bittersweet story — hopefully, the listener learns from hearing it and never has to say they had ‘The One’ get away.”

With ‘The One That Got Away’ sitting pretty at No. 4 on the charts, it’s time to start wondering whether Perry will end 2011 by breaking the record for most No. 1 hits from an album. There are still a couple of weeks left in the year — anything can happen!

Katy Perry equals George Michael US Hot 100 record:

Katy Perry  has become the third act in Billboard chart history to have six top-five hits from one album.

The singer's latest cut 'The One That Got Away' climbed to number four on this week's US Hot 100, making it the sixth single from Teenage Dream to achieve a top five placing.

The feat means that Perry has equalled the achievements of George Michael, who also gained six top-five hits from his Faith album in the late '80s, reports Billboard.

Perry is now trailing a record set by Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation album, which spawned seven top-five singles between 1989 and 1991.

However, if Perry's 'The One That Got Away' climbs to the number one position, she will break Michael Jackson's record of five chart-toppers from a single LP which she matched earlier this year.
